Fiona and Sarah's first 10k race - Pudding Run

Sunday 20th November saw me and Sarah at Shipley Park in Heanor for our very first 10k race.  Sarah felt sick at the start, I felt dizzy, not the best start for our first ever 10k.  It was a very foggy day so at least we couldn't see the top of the hills that we were running up.  Fiona finished in 50 minutes and 3 seconds (I really did try to run very fast that last 100 metres) and Sarah in 1 hour and 1 minute.  And we got that all important Christmas Pudding!

Coffee and cupcakes

Coffee and Cupcakes morning on Friday 18th November.

We raised a total of £958.93 which is a fantastic amount!

The main theme of the day was to celebrate world diabetes day. With the world going blue for diabetes we decided to have blue cupcakes.

The blue cupcakes were kindly made by Iona Henry, who donated her time and most of the cakes to the charity, and the cake cases, sprinkles, and decoration kindly donated by Allison Harris of cupcake style.

We had candles for sale by On a Wick and a Prayer , jewellery by Anney Grace and handmade cards by Gabby.  They all donated a proportion of sales back into the charity, and donated raffle prizes.

We also had a raffle with prizes generously donated from friends and local companies, to include Sally Montague Hair Group, Bliss Health and Beauty and Elegance Natural Skin Care.

It was a fantastic event, which not only raised a lot of money for JDRF, it also raised the all important awareness for Type 1 diabetes.
